Academic Exchange & Study Abroad

Universidad La Salle offers exchange students the opportunity to live and study in a great city.

Undergraduate programs

We offer 27 programs, in six schools/faculties, to exchange & study abroad students: 1. Business; 2. Humanities and Social Sciences (Education, Psychology, Religious Sciences, Philosophy); 3. Law; 4. Chemistry; 5. Engineering; 6. Architecture, Design and Communication. All undergraduate academic programs adhere to the following guidelines: 

· Academic terms last 16 weeks. Calendar: August-December & January-May

 

 

· Most regular courses total 60 hours of instruction. Courses requiring labs or practices have more hours of instruction.

 

 

· Grading system is on a scale of 1-10, in which 10 is excellent and less than 6 is failed.

 

 

· Classes are mostly offered in Spanish. An intermediate level of proficiency (B2) is required for foreign students. Check our website for more options and classes offered in English.

Graduate programs

Open only to students who meet the following requirements: authorization from home university and four years of study at university level. Courses are subject to availability. Contact us for more information. Calendar: Late August-Early December & Early January-Late April

In addition to academic courses, students have access to cultural activities and sports. Internships may be arranged upon request. The "Casa del Estudiante" houses a wide variety of students associations, student government and support services for student life.

Special Program (Groups)

The Center for International Education, La Salle (CIEL) offers a wide variety of courses can be designed and arranged to suit the needs of your institution anywhere from a few days to two weeks, or an entire semester.

Successful programs in the past have involved students from schools of Business, Journalism, Criminal Justice, Humans Services, Urban Studies, Cultural sensitivity encounters with administrators, including introduction and orientation to Mexican Culture and society, as well as custom designed institution-specific workshops. The Intercultural component is also emphasized, providing the participants with tools for gaining a deeper understanding into the processes of Culture study and Learning.

Housing with local families, excursions and intercultural experiential learning are all part of the package. Specialized groupservices can and will be designed for your particular institutional needs.

Intensive Summer Program

The Center for International Education, La Salle (CIEL) offers each year, from June to August, we offer our intensive Spanish program for all levels. Our courses provide a balance of oral and written expression and listening and reading comprehension with emphasis on communication skills.

This program includes:

45 hours of Spanish language instruction

 

20 hours of Mexican History and Culture

 

45 hours of guided field trips including overnightin Puebla

 

Room and board with a Mexican family including 2 meals a day and bed linen service

Year-Round Spanish Courses

The Center for International Education, La Salle (CIEL) offers year-round 3 week and 5-week modules at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Admission is open to anyone 16 or older and an oral and written placement exam is given to all new students to indicate their level of proficiency. For more personalized attention, class size ranges from 3 to 8 students.

Daily classes for 3 weeks:

Intensive courses: 3 hours from Monday through Friday (45 hrs) & conversation club (1 hr a week) class hours: 9:30 to 12:30 & conversation: 12:45 to 1:45 pm

 

 

Semi-intensive courses: 1½ hours daily (22 ½ hrs) Class hours: 9:30 to 11:00 am or 5:30 to 7:00 pm

 

3-times a week classes for 5 weeks:

Semi-intensive courses: 1 ½ hours, Mon, Wed & Thurs (22 ½ hrs) class hours: 11:15 to 12:45 or 5:30 to 7:00 pm
